How to Use the Toothbrush Effectively

By: | Tags: | Comments: 0 | August 25th, 2015

Toothbrushes these days come with all sorts of features. They come with handles that change their color, oscillating tufts, raised bristles and angled heads. Today, there are numerous brands of toothbrushes, however not all of them are great for your teeth.

With so many brands and types of toothbrushes, you cannot tell which type of toothbrush is designed for plaque removal in the best way possible. The only thing that matters is the way you brush your teeth. Many people do not brush their teeth long enough. Most of the people brush less for less than a minute. Brushing for less than the recommended amount of time does not remove bacteria properly as the brush does not reach all the areas. This is why it is recommended to brush your teeth for at least two to three minutes.

Which toothbrush is the best?

Generally, the head of the toothbrush should be small, ranging from 1” to ½”. This makes access to gums, teeth and areas of the mouth easy. The body of the toothbrush should be long enough so that it can be grasped firmly. The head of the brush should be rounded having soft nylon bristles.

What is the right time to change the toothbrush?

Make sure that you change your toothbrush or just its head (if using the electric toothbrush) before the bristles are frayed and splayed. Old toothbrushes are not only ineffective, but also grow harmful bacteria that can cause different infections, for example, periodontitis and gingivitis. Ideally, you should change your toothbrush every three months.

How to brush your teeth

Brushing teeth is simple and effective, only when it is done the right way. On an angle of 45 degree, you must place your toothbrush and move it back and forth. Brushing must be done behind, outside and between the teeth, on the tongue and on the chewing surfaces. You need to brush your teeth twice a day. Brushing after meals is essential.

For how long should you brush your teeth?

Done twice a day, one should brush for at least three to four minutes. If you need to get best results, brush them for as long as one song. Unfortunately, most of the people just brush their teeth for 40 to 65 seconds.

With the effective use of the toothbrush, you can expect better dental health and a brighter smile on your face!
